Poor Mental Health at Work!
Here are 5 reasons why the sun is good for us:
- Our dose of Vitamin D – the sun provides our body with Vitamin D which promotes healthy cell and bone growth, reduces inflammation and helps to stimulate immune function. It can also lower blood pressure and reduce, or even cure, conditions such as psoriasis and eczema from just being exposed to the sun. But don’t forget to wear your sun protection to protect your skin.
- Promotes healthy/active lifestyle choices – when the sun is shining, all you want to do is eat fresh food and be outside enjoying the warm weather. Even if you’re having a BBQ, going for a walk, sitting outside with friends/family, it gets you outside!
- Increases serotonin levels – Serotonin (produced by the brain and intestines) levels increase when you’re exposed to the sun, which is why we tend to all be in a better mood during the summer.
- Happy mind – it’s proven that the sunlight helps mental health and depression due to our serotonin levels increasing (as mentioned before).
- Warmth and adventure – everyone loves to go out without a jacket or coat knowing they won’t be cold later on. The “summer air” again gets everyone out and about, and in good spirits!
