Summer’s here: Kick back, relax – and miss out.
For many businesses July and August are a chance to take things easy. And we can understand why.
Many staff and customers take their holiday around this time. The temptation’s strong to put all that important stuff to one side until the kids are back at school – you know, new projects, marketing, recruitment…
Then September arrives and your customers are ready to go – but you’re not. You can’t quite deliver because you’ve got that recruiting to do first. In desperation you bung an advert on Monster (or pay an agency to do it for you) and tell yourself that, no matter what, you’ll have to recruit someone from the first batch of CVs that come in.
(We’re sure you can see where this is going . . . )
You hire the wrong person; they’re unhappy, you’re unhappy. Your customers are unhappy.
Let’s look at the situation again.
It’s mid July and many of your customers are away so business is a little slower than usual. This is the ideal opportunity for you to find the perfect person to fit your vacancy. You can actually give some time to consider where you want to take your business in the mid to long term – and recruit to align with that goal. When staff are out of the office more than usual you can take stock of your team and see how different personalities affect the atmosphere and ethos of your company.
At Gotcha we take the time to understand your vacancy, your values and your business direction before we find the perfect person for your role. And because we don’t wait for a bunch of CVs to drop on our virtual mat, it doesn’t matter if most people are not actively looking for work over the summer.
We go out and find the person most suited to your role. And if they’re on holiday? No problem, we just contact them when they return. And because you have until September before business picks up again, a couple of weeks isn’t going to make all that much difference is it?
