Despite the current economic gloom, forward-thinking businesses are recruiting more and more permanent staff
And the recent trend is set to continue for the near future.
Despite the current economic challenges, employers plan to increase permanent staff
According to the The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), their latest Jobs Outlook Survey found that two-thirds (61%) of employers expect an increase in their permanent headcount during this quarter. In addition, 59% of surveyed employers said they plan to increase their permanent headcount over the next four to 12 months, an increase of 3%.
Last week, Neil Carberry, director for employment and skills at the Confederation of British Industry, said:
The flat employment growth is down to a fall in part-time jobs. Full-time posts increased again this month, continuing the positive trend of recent months.”
IT remains the sectors in most need of permanent staff and REC director of policy Tom Hadley said that this month’s report predicted growth in demand for staff in hospitality and sales.
