Employer Second Interview
Second interview questions should develop on what you have already discussed with the candidate. The interview is likely to be competency based, digging deeper into what you have learnt at the first interview. Your goal with the second interview is to discover more about the candidate and how they would approach the job. You’ll need to determine whether the candidate is a good fit with you and the rest of the team.
Key points:
- Look back to your first interview notes and further explore areas you feel need more clarification.
- Questions should be deep and probing about the candidate and their approach to work – you need to further establish their suitability and ability for the specific needs of the job.
- It is a good idea to give detailed and testing examples and scenarios specific to the particular job, asking how the candidate would deal with them.
Second interviews are often more targeted and take longer than first interviews, however taking the time to prepare the right questions and assessments will help to ensure you employ the right person for the job.
At Gotcha, we help our clients prepare to interview candidates by reviewing assessment tests and discussing questioning techniques, before making suggestions on how they can get the most out of the interview.
